At S’mores & Shores, we know vacations are better when the whole family can come along, including your four-legged companions. Our home is pet-friendly, so well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you for your Outer Banks getaway.
Take morning walks along the beach, relax together on the deck with ocean breezes, or enjoy quiet evenings by the fire pit after a day of exploring Hatteras Island. The wide beaches and laid-back atmosphere of Waves make it a great destination for both people and pets.
Because we want to keep the home comfortable for all guests, we simply ask that dogs be supervised and that owners follow our basic pet guidelines during their stay.
Outer Banks Wildlife
The Outer Banks is home to a rich variety of coastal wildlife that makes every visit unique. During your stay at S’mores & Shores, you may see white-tailed deer, pelicans, shorebirds, dolphins, and sea turtles along the beaches and waterways surrounding Hatteras Island.
The sound-side marshes and seagrass beds also support crabs, fish, and even seahorses that live within the shallow coastal waters.
One of the most famous animals of the Outer Banks is the wild Colonial Spanish mustang horses that roam the beaches and dunes in the northern Outer Banks near Corolla. These horses are believed to be descendants of animals brought by Spanish explorers centuries ago and remain one of the most remarkable sights along the North Carolina coast.
